Plan big, but prepare for the small.
Always plan solutions to align with the long-term view, but be prepared to implement solutions in progressive iterations.
Use the right tool for the job.
The solutions we use as a UX team are a toolkit. Sometimes all the tools are needed and sometimes only a few. Pick the ones that fit the task.
Communicate.
With Project Managers, Project Team Members, within the UX team. Why you ask, what you ask, why you think what you think, why you don't think it should work like that, what you are working on, how long will it take, how to try a different approach. Manage the expectations placed upon you.
Listening is more important than talking.
Be proactive.
Need info? Go get it. Have a concern or issue? Bring it up. Waiting on someone? Go find them.
Email is the worst form of communication.We put a man on the moon without it but have not gone since–coincidence? We need to enable the process rather than accept just being a part of it.
